Microchip Format

  • The Microchip is a plastic slide the size of a standard microscope glass slide (1 to 3 inches).
  • Ligands (6 replicates for each) are deposited onto the chip surface as ~100 um drops.

Reasons for Choice of Microchip Format

  • Thousands of ligands can be placed upon slide surface
  • Small amount of reagent is required
  • Compatible with most microchip devices (for hybridization and reading)

The Microchip is made of plastic with a surface modified for ligand immobilization and reduction of nonspecific sorption
